Pakistan's economy grew slightly more slowly last year than first estimated. The National Accounts Committee (NAC), at its 118th meeting on October 19, 2026, revised GDP growth for fiscal year 2025-26 down to 3.65% from a provisional 3.70%, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) said. Growth for 2024-25 was also trimmed, from 3.18% to 3.11%.
The PBS said the revisions reflect updated import data and revised annual and quarterly indicators.
Sector by sector
| Sector | Provisional | Revised |
|---|---|---|
| Agriculture | 2.89% | 3.50% |
| Industry | 3.51% | 3.34% |
| Services | 4.09% | 3.81% |
| GDP | 3.70% | 3.65% |
Agriculture was the bright spot. Growth in important crops was raised to 1.59%, other crops to 4.28%, and forestry grew 10.8%.
Industry was pulled down by large-scale manufacturing, cut from 6.11% to 5.01%, although construction was revised up to 6.30%. Car production surged 57.8%, while pharmaceuticals fell 8.9%.
Services were lowered mainly because wholesale and retail trade growth was cut from 3.71% to 2.37%, which the PBS linked to weaker manufacturing and imports. Information and communication grew a strong 9.53%.
A slow final quarter
Growth in the April–June quarter slowed to 2%, against 6.07% a year earlier, which the PBS partly blamed on a high base. Industry shrank 4.7% in the quarter, with electricity, gas and water supply down 33%. Earlier quarters were revised up, with the third quarter now at 4.42%.
The size of the economy
