New Zealand beat India by 87 runs in the fourth T20I at Eden Park on Friday, October 30, 2026, as Glenn Phillips's 107 off 49 balls carried them to 259-7. India, already 3-0 up with the series won, finished on 172-9.

The margin is New Zealand's biggest over India in T20 internationals. It came after three straight defeats for the hosts, the most recent in Wellington, where Abhishek Sharma's 35-ball century settled the third match and the series.

From 112-4 to 259: the 147 runs that changed the game

New Zealand were 112-4 after 10.4 overs when the match turned. They added 147 more in the remaining nine overs and two balls, a rate of about 16 an over.

Phillips did the most damage. He hit 10 sixes and six fours, which means 84 of his 107 runs came in boundaries. Michael Bracewell's contribution was almost as costly for India: 65 from 25 balls, with six sixes of his own. Together the pair made 172 runs, exactly what the whole Indian team managed in reply.

Mayank Yadav was the one Indian bowler with a real return, taking 3-48. Nitish Kumar Reddy went for 64 in his four overs, and Axar Patel for 43 in three. Those two alone gave up 107 runs in seven overs.

Duffy's four wickets end the chase

India needed 260, and Jacob Duffy made sure the chase never became a contest. He took 4-23, easily the best figures of the match. Mitchell Santner's two wickets cost only 24 runs, and Fisher took 2-40.

Tilak Varma's 35 was India's top score. No Indian batter passed that figure, and at the end Prince Yadav, unbeaten on 18, and Mayank, 3 not out, were batting out the 20 overs with nine wickets down. Nathan Smith was New Zealand's one expensive bowler, going wicketless for 47.
