The Washington Commanders beat the Philadelphia Eagles 27-10 on Sunday night, scoring 27 unanswered points after a 10-0 first-quarter hole. The loss is Philadelphia's sixth in a row and leaves them 2-6, while Washington moved to 2-4-1 with their first comeback win of the season.

It was not a clean win. Washington missed a 55-yard field goal on the opening drive and then fumbled to set up an Eagles touchdown. Philadelphia never scored again.

How Washington took over after a 10-0 start

Jake Elliott's 40-yard field goal and Saquon Barkley's first-quarter touchdown put the Eagles in front. Drew Stevens, who had missed that opening kick, then made four field goals in a row, and they carried much of the comeback.

Jayden Daniels tied the game at 10-10 with an 8-yard touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs. Washington led 13-10 at half-time, then turned a Tanner McKee fumble into three more points in the third quarter.

The Eagles' best chance to respond came and went on one drive. A penalty wiped out a field goal, and Elliott missed the retry. McKee's interception on a fourth-and-25 throw then set up Rachaad White's 1-yard touchdown run, and a two-point conversion finished the scoring.

Player Team Line
Jayden Daniels Commanders 16 of 29, 217 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT, 23 rushing yards
Drew Stevens Commanders Four straight field goals after a 55-yard miss
Saquon Barkley Eagles 13 carries, 30 yards, 1 TD, 24 receiving yards

Why the Eagles' season is slipping away

This is Philadelphia's longest losing run since 2012. Jalen Hurts is out for the rest of the season, and McKee struggled to read the Washington defence. DeVonta Smith was ruled out before kick-off, which left McKee short of a top target. Barkley averaged 2.3 yards a carry and has been reported to be playing through injury.

The New York Giants lead the NFC East at 4-2-1, leaving the Eagles well behind with nine games to play.

The wildest finish came in Texas. Dallas led 17-10 going into the fourth quarter, the teams then shared 33 points, 20 of them Arizona's, and Chad Ryland's field goal won it in overtime. Cincinnati and Tennessee also needed extra time, with the Bengals scoring the only points of the extra period.

Denver scored 15 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to overturn a 24-13 deficit against Kansas City. Tampa Bay's 16-0 shutout of Atlanta was won without a single completed pass.
