Harry Kane missed a penalty on the night Bayern Munich celebrated his Ballon d'Or, and Fabio Silva's 89th-minute goal gave Borussia Dortmund a 2-2 draw in Der Klassiker on Saturday, October 31, 2026. The result leaves both clubs unbeaten and level on 18 points at the top of the Bundesliga, with Bayern ahead on goal difference.

Kane's night, from pre-match tribute to crossbar

Kane received the prize at a ceremony in London on Monday and was an unused substitute in Wednesday's 6-1 German Cup win over Magdeburg. Bayern gave him a separate entrance before kick-off in Munich.

With Bayern 1-0 up shortly before the hour, he had the chance to make it two from the spot, and his kick struck the crossbar. Within minutes he lost the ball in the build-up to Dortmund's equaliser. He partly made up for it by setting up Bayern's second goal, but a low shot later came back off the post, and Bayern could not put the game away.

How the goals came

Minute Event
10 Michael Olise hits the post for Bayern
24 Ismael Saibari misses a one-on-one and goes off injured
34 Jobe Bellingham's goal for Dortmund ruled out by VAR after Carney Chukwuemeka collided with the goalkeeper
38 GOAL Bayern: Konrad Laimer scores on the rebound after Gregor Kobel blocks his first effort
Before the hour Kane's penalty hits the crossbar
60 GOAL Dortmund: Serhou Guirassy finishes with his left foot
66 GOAL Bayern: Dayot Upamecano taps in from Kane's pass
89 GOAL Dortmund: substitute Fabio Silva equalises
90+ Lennart Karl hits the crossbar with the last kick

Bayern had been averaging more than five goals per home game this season and struck the woodwork four times here. For Niko Kovac's Dortmund, a point looked unlikely for long periods, yet they scored twice from limited chances and earlier had a goal taken away by VAR.

A squad stretched in Kompany's absence

Head coach Vincent Kompany is still recovering after collapsing last week, and the injury list is growing. Luis Diaz was already out, and Saibari and Serge Gnabry both went off during the first half. Bayern's schedule is packed at the moment, so a draw against their closest rival, with their unbeaten record intact, is not a disaster. It was still a clear chance to open a gap at the top, and it went begging.

How the Bundesliga looks after Saturday

Bayern Munich Drew 2-2 with Dortmund 1st, 18 points, ahead on goal difference
Borussia Dortmund Drew 2-2 at Bayern 2nd, 18 points
Freiburg Beat Augsburg 2-1, Cyriaque Irie scoring in the 85th minute 3rd
RB Leipzig Beat Schalke 2-0 4th
Werder Bremen Beat Hoffenheim 2-0, with Niclas Füllkrug's league-leading ninth goal 5th
Bayer Leverkusen Lost 4-2 at home to Stuttgart, a second straight defeat Lost ground

Borussia Mönchengladbach and Paderborn drew 0-0 in the other game reported on Saturday.

Next up for Kane and Guirassy

The title race now looks like a real two-club contest, more so than in Bayern's dominant recent seasons. The clubs' identical records will stay that way only until the next round of fixtures, when Bayern will hope to have Kompany closer to a return and Kane back on target.
