Paris Saint-Germain scored four goals in the first 16 minutes and 2 seconds at Villarreal on Tuesday night and went on to win 6-0, the fastest any team has reached four goals in the history of the Champions League. On the same night Manchester United came back from 2-0 down to beat Roma 3-2 at Old Trafford, with Matheus Cunha scoring twice in the last eight minutes before being sent off.

PSG's record start in Villarreal

PSG were missing Ousmane Dembele, Marquinhos and Nuno Mendes through injury, and it made no difference. Joao Neves opened the scoring in the ninth minute, Desire Doue and Senny Mayulu added two more within minutes, and Fabian Ruiz made it four with 16 minutes and 2 seconds on the clock.

The previous record belonged to Real Madrid, who scored four in the opening stages against Dinamo Zagreb in 2011. Ruiz scored again after half-time and substitute David Boly completed the rout in the 78th minute.

Minute PSG goal Score
9' Joao Neves 0-1
early Desire Doue 0-2
early Senny Mayulu 0-3
16' (16:02) Fabian Ruiz 0-4
second half Fabian Ruiz 0-5
78' David Boly 0-6

PSG are now unbeaten in 14 Champions League matches, equalling the longest unbeaten run by a French club in the competition.

How United turned round a 2-0 deficit

Roma were in control early at Old Trafford. Matias Soule scored in the 11th minute and Donyell Malen doubled the lead from the penalty spot seven minutes later. United went in at half-time two goals down and facing another bad night in a poor run of form.

Bruno Fernandes started the recovery with a penalty in the 58th minute. Cunha then struck twice in three minutes, in the 83rd and 86th, to complete the turnaround. The Brazilian was shown a red card before the final whistle, which means Michael Carrick will be without his match-winner for the next European game. The win ended a long run without a victory for Carrick's side.

Bayern win in Madrid, Barcelona beat Villa

Bayern Munich were patient at the Metropolitano. After a goalless first half, 18-year-old Lennart Karl put them ahead in the 54th minute and Konrad Laimer made it 2-0 in the 74th from a pass by Ballon d'Or winner Harry Kane.

In Barcelona, Lamine Yamal scored in the seventh minute and Raphinha added two second-half goals, in the 52nd and 64th minutes, as Unai Emery's Aston Villa were beaten 3-0.
