The big stories

Bengals humble Baltimore. Cincinnati scored 35 points on the road against their AFC North rivals, while the Ravens' ground game was shut down: Derrick Henry managed only 45 yards on 17 carries. Baltimore, with Tyler Huntley at quarterback, threw for 298 yards but could not keep pace.

Vikings remain the NFC's last unbeaten team. Minnesota did just enough against Indianapolis in a low-scoring game, with Kyler Murray throwing a touchdown pass. Jonathan Taylor ran for 95 yards and a score for the Colts.

Giants survive in overtime. Running back Cam Skattebo ran for 124 yards and J.J. McCarthy threw for 252 as the Giants won 27-21 after extra time in Houston to move to 4-2-1.

Lions edge Packers. Jared Goff passed for 303 yards and two touchdowns and Jahmyr Gibbs carried 29 times as Detroit won the NFC North meeting by three points.

Falcons stop the 49ers. Atlanta handed San Francisco only its second defeat of the season despite 288 passing yards from Brock Purdy.

Bucs explode. Tampa Bay put up 43 points at Carolina, with Bucky Irving scoring twice on the ground.

Background

Several teams had bye weeks, so fewer than 16 games were played. With the season approaching its midpoint and the trade deadline coming up, results like Baltimore's heavy home defeat often push struggling teams to decide whether to buy or sell.

Why it matters

The standings are starting to separate. Minnesota and Kansas City are the only unbeaten teams, San Francisco remains the NFC's other leading side at 6-1, and in the AFC North the Bengals' win tightens a division in which Pittsburgh (5-2), Cleveland (5-2), Baltimore (4-3) and Cincinnati (4-2) are close together.
